COPENHAGEN DANISH BAR & CUISINE
COPENHAGEN
DESIGN CONCEPT

Entering into Copenhagen Danish Cuisine & Bar along the beautiful Kempenfelt Bay area, one is immediately drawn to the clean rustic atmosphere that brings them into the Danish culture through the use of design. Using mainly eco-friendly materials, the furnishing and accessories throughout the restaurant add to the unique dining experience that one has when visiting the new restaurant. When entering the space, guests are immediately welcomed into an energetic and lively atmosphere with the use of green plant life and  splashes of bright copper seen throughout light fixtures and furniture accents contrasted by the monochromatic wall and floor finishes. The lobby area is open to the restaurant area, providing seating for waiting guests, where one can also browse the menu on an adjacent wall, while noticing the steel cutout accent wall which is used to separate the lobby from the main dining area. The wall of windows running along the north side, allows natural light to flow into the space, nourishing the growing plants and bringing natural light through the whole space, while providing a magnificent view to all guests, while some have the opportunity to sit parallel to these large windows. Upon entering the restaurant space, one will look up to notice the very high sloped ceiling which dramatically opens up the whole space. A continuing theme throughout the space in which provides harmony through repetition is the copper finishes which is first seen on the exterior signage through Copenhagen’s logo. Continuing through the space, a large accent pendant light greets guests in the lobby area, to light fixtures being used as focal points & area separation through the rest of the space. The size of these pendants is what separated one area from another, as an upper dining area and lower dining area are provided with barrier free access provided by a ramp along the west wall.

The bar area, located in the center of the restaurant is a main focal point as it acts as a center hub for guests to come and order drinks and socialize, with an open view to the outdoors as well as a view to the surrounding restaurant area. The bar stands out not only by the layout but the rear accent wall which separate the private staff area and kitchen access from the guests dining experience. The same steel cut out wall with an intriguing pattern that is seen at the restaurants entry, provides more harmony and repetition through the space, while acting as a simply area for drink options at the bar. Continuing to the lower level of the dining space, guests will feel connected to the outdoors while still being surrounded by simple yet interesting design featured which are seen through the upper dining area, with different finishes for separation. The polished concrete and copper give a high quality feel to a rustic interior, while each finish is sure to be clean and bright. Continuing along the surrounding walls, booths are used for a more intimate dining experience, separated by tall concrete partitions, and also the use of more industrial clusters of pendant lights. This ensures that all guests’ needs are met, whether they are looking for a lively dining experience with a large group, or a more intimate experience between 2-4 people, where privacy is then provided. Moving to the back of the space, a hidden hallway leads guests to the restroom areas, where barrier-free path of travel continues to be provided. The restrooms are designed to be more intimate and warm in comparison to the open restaurant area, where dim lighting and dark tiles are used for a highly sophisticated feel. While still providing unity between public and private spaces, these are completely separated with the use of finishes and lighting, with contrast between bright and dark areas.
